Women Speak Out
“Last Fall at an event for Interim Place, the restaurant manager stopped one of the staff of Interim Place. She whispered and handed the staff a cheque with funds raised by all the staff at the restaurant and said. “My name is Karlene and I stayed at Interim Place when I was five years old and I couldn’t believe that Santa Claus still found me. This is my thank you.”

“I never imagined I would meet a wonderful group of staff and volunteers and other women like myself. In addition to these pleasant people, I received counselling for myself, my daughter and found out about housing opportunities, legal matters and so much more.
I really felt comfortable at the shelter since I am totally alone in Canada. I have no family or friends living here. I felt at home at the shelter. They helped me through the crisis.
My girls and I would like to thank you all for the work you do and it really makes a difference. You were my saving grace and I will always have a special remembrance of the women that touched my life in different ways, but will forever be grateful to you for letting me in.”
