Woman Abuse is any act of, or threat of, violence that results in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women. It includes coercion or deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life.

Woman Abuse can occur within all types of relationships such as:

  • • Husband/Wife;
  • • Common law couple;
  • • Same-sex couple;
  • • Boyfriend/Girlfriend;
  • • Elder/Caregiver;

Women can also experience violence in other situations:

  • • At work by a boss or co-worker;
  • • At school by a teacher;
  • • By a doctor or faith leader;
  • • By a stranger/stalker;
