Interim Place has a commitment to maintaining an active student program. We encourage applications from all women students in keeping with our mission and vision. Our students work alongside the staff and volunteers towards the elimination of all forms of violence and oppression in the lives of women and children in our community.

We are committed to providing an excellent learning environment and placement opportunity for women to lean new skills, information and contribute in a meaningful way. We accept students from both colleges and universities in many program areas including: community and social work, not for profit management and fundraising.

We strongly encourage applications for student placement from Aboriginal Women, World Majority Women/Women of Color, LGBTQI Women with Women with Disabilities in keeping with our employment equity policy.

Student Placement within Programs and Services

We take students in second year placement from Colleges such as George Brown, Humber, Sheridan, Seneca and from programs such as the Assaulted Women and Children Counsellor/Advocate Program, Community Worker, Social Service Worker and Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education. We also take placement from University programs including social work, women’s studies, other related fields will be considered.

Student Placement within Administration

Women who are enrolled in post secondary school programs in the area of, administration, fundraising, finance and other not for profit management may be considered for a placement within the administration team.

We also consider short term secondary school requests and we also participate in the HRDC Summer Student Program.

How to Apply for Student Placement?

We recruit College and University students in April and May of each year for a placement beginning in the Fall. To find out whether we have placement contact us if we have placement then you will be asked to submit by e- mail or regular mail a letter of interest and resume you will be contacted and an interviews will then be arranged. We can usually accommodate two to three students in each of our organizational areas; Shelters, Community Programs and Administration.
